In December 2020, Christopher Whiteley’s body was found in the woods, his neck torn open by something unknown. The site was so gruesome that sheriff’s deputies at the scene assumed right away that it must have been a mountain lion that killed him. But when state and federal wildlife experts arrived to track the killer cat, they found no signs of an animal attack.
